Getting Started with Dashboards in DoordaOnline

Dashboards in DoordaOnline allow you to bring together multiple questions (queries or charts) into a single view. This guide will walk you through creating, customising, and sharing dashboards to better monitor and communicate insights from your data.

    Creating a New Dashboard

    To create a dashboard:

    1. Click the + New button in the top navigation.

    2. Select Dashboard from the list.

    3. Give your dashboard a name and (optionally) a description.

    4. Choose which collection to save it to — collections help keep your content organised.

Once saved, you’ll be taken directly into your new dashboard, ready to start adding content.

Adding Cards (Questions) to Your Dashboard

A dashboard is made up of cards, which typically represent visualisations or tables generated by questions.

    To add a card:

    1. Click the + Add a card button.

    2. Select an existing question from the list, or create a new one on the spot.

    3. Once selected, the card will appear on your dashboard. You can then drag and drop to reposition it or resize by dragging its corners.

Tip: You can also add text cards for notes or titles, and links to add context or branding.

    Organising Your Dashboard

Dashboards in DoordaOnline are highly customisable:

    • Resize cards by dragging the bottom-right corner.

    • Move cards, move pointer over the box and a toolbar will appear, this enables you to click and drag the card around the dashboard.

    • Stack cards vertically or arrange them side by side.

Each user’s view of the dashboard will respect the layout you design, so it’s worth arranging the cards clearly.

    Editing Dashboard Cards

To edit a card on the dashboard:

    • Hover over the card to view the toolbar or click the three dots ...

    • From the toobar you can:

      • Change the Card Visualisation.

      • Select what happens when you click on the box via the Click behaviour.

      • Replace the card.

      • Duplicate the card.

      • Add a Series.

You can also remove cards using the same menu.

    Adding Filters to Dashboards

DoordaOnline allows you to apply filters across multiple cards, enabling dynamic and interactive dashboards.

    To add a filter:

    1. Click Add a filter at the top of the dashboard.

    2. Choose the filter type — e.g. a dropdown list, date picker, number input, etc.

    3. Link the filter to one or more cards by mapping it to relevant fields in the data behind each card.

    4. Save your dashboard once filters are connected.

Now users can change the filter value and all linked cards will update automatically.

    Sharing Dashboards

Dashboards can be shared in several ways:

    • Invite users: Share the dashboard within your DoordaOnline workspace.

    • Public links: Generate a shareable link (only if enabled by your admin).

    • Email subscriptions: Schedule automated email reports of the dashboard, sent to team members on a regular basis.

    • Export as PDF: Use the sharing menu to export a static version of the dashboard for printing or offline use.

Make sure appropriate permissions are in place for viewers to see the underlying data.

    Best Practices

    • Name cards clearly so viewers understand what each chart represents.

    • Group related cards together.

    • Use filters to make dashboards interactive and useful for multiple teams.

    • Test the layout on different screen sizes to ensure responsiveness.

    • Save frequently while editing to avoid losing work.

With dashboards in DoordaOnline, you can transform your data into meaningful, actionable insights. Whether you’re tracking KPIs, monitoring performance, or exploring trends, dashboards help you tell a compelling story with your data.
